The Grill at the Red Lion Whittlesford Bridge

We offer locally sourced food, cooked beautifully and simply, at The Grill, and served in a traditional yet quirky setting.

Our extensive menus combine current gastronomic trends with classic British favourites and retro revivals – all cooked to order by our Head Chef, Neil who was Head Chef at The Howard Arms in the Cotswolds, named as ‘Best Country Dining Pub of 2010’. Neil uses fresh British produce, of local provenance where possible, including the finest farm-assured cuts of meat. Local suppliers include Adnams of Suffolk, Aubrey Allan of Coventry, Fieldgate Nurseries of Melbourn, and The Cambridge Cheese Company.

Diners can choose to sit in any of our dining areas and drink in the Red Lion atmosphere: whether it’s our sunlight-flooded Atrium, 13th century oak-beamed bar or in front of a real log fire.

We serve food from 7am to 10pm every day, with last orders at 9.30pm. Special dietary requirements can be catered for: just please let us know on booking. Otherwise, reservations aren’t needed for dining unless your party is for six or more.

If you do wish to pre-book, please call 01223 832047.

Folk club

We host the Red Lion Folk Club on the second Friday of each month. Newcomers are always welcome to sing, play or just have a pint and enjoy the music. The folk club also run the annual ‘Red Lion Folk Day’ in July where they host music and dance workshops and we provide the barbeque.
