Eating and drinking at the Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge

We offer locally sourced, contemporary, British food, cooked beautifully and simply, served in a traditional yet quirky setting.

Our head chef Chris Sharman has a real enthusiasm and passion for food! Chris has previously worked for a 3 AA rosette Marco Pierre White hotel, where he and his team were awarded the Best Essex roast award in 2012. Chris uses fresh British produce, of local provenance where possible, including the finest farm-assured cuts of meat.

Local suppliers include: B. Searl and Sons in nearby Sawston, Fieldgate Nurseries of Melbourn, and The Cambridge Cheese Company.

Drinks suppliers include: Bacchanalia of Cambridge, Adnams of Southwold and Matthew Clarke wines.

Diners can choose to sit in any of our dining areas and drink in the Red Lion atmosphere: whether it’s our sunlight-flooded Atrium or our 13th century oak-beamed bar.

We serve food from 7am to 10pm every day, with last orders at 9.30pm. Special dietary requirements can be catered for: just please let us know on booking. Otherwise, reservations aren’t needed for dining unless your party is for six or more.
