Location

Where is the Hotel?

The hotel is located at Junction 10 of the M11. The hotel is located one mile from the Imperial War Museum Duxford on the A505

What is the postcode for the hotel?

CB22 4NL, please be aware the postcode for the hotel is split in half by a railway line. Satellite navigation will take you to Station Road West but the hotel is on Station Road East, so follow signs for Swaston when on the final few miles of your journey and you will see the hotel situated just off the A505. There is a bright Neon sign on the side of the building for the Holiday Inn Express, once you see this get off at the next junction. You can park your car anywhere in our car park which we share with the Holiday Inn Express hotel.

What is the nearest Airport?

Stansted Airport, located 30 minutes from the hotel.

What is the nearest Train Station?

The hotel is 50 yards from Whittlesford Parkway train station which is on the London Liverpool Street line. There are two trains per hour going to Cambridge and London Liverpool Street.

What room types do you have

The hotel has double and single rooms of various shapes and sizes. To ensure you get the one for you, please contact reservations on 01223 497085.

How many people can stay in one room?

In double rooms, two adults and one adult in a single room. Please note, due to the age of our hotel, disabled access in not possible for accommodation. We suggest you speak with our friends at the Holiday Inn Express located next door to the Red Lion. You can still dine or enjoy a drink in our restaurant area that has many accessible entrances.

Does the internet rate include breakfast?

Some rates are inclusive of breakfast however there are room only rates also visible. If you are booking a room and it is room only, breakfast is charged at £7.50 per person if you pre-order at the time of booking.

What are the standard check-in and check-out times of the hotel?

You can enter the room after 2pm and departure is noon. If you arrive earlier, there is a £10.00 charge per room. The hotel also has a large luggage store which is free of charge to use.

Do you provide a service for late check-out?

We certainly do which can be negotiated with the hotel directly.

Do you have rooms with a bathtub?

We certainly do however to ensure you are allocated one of these rooms, please contact our reservations department on 01223 497085.

Do you have non-smoking rooms?

For your safety and comfort, all rooms and public areas are non smoking.

Do you have accessible rooms?

I’m afraid not. The age of the building has prevented us from being able to offer this facility however our friends at the Holiday Inn Express do offer these rooms meaning you would still be in the same location as the Red Lion and you can still dine with us if you wish.

What are the check-in/out times?

You can enter the room after 2pm and departure is noon. If you arrive earlier, there is a £10.00 charge per room. The hotel also has a large luggage store which is free of charge to use.

What age do you class as children for Hotel purposes?

Up to the age of 16 is regarded as children.

Is there a safety deposit box available at the hotel?

The hotel has six safety deposit boxes

Is there car parking at the hotel?

The hotel has 85 car parking spaces on site and free of charge to all customers.

Do you have cot beds?

The hotel has ample stocks of cots and available at no extra cost.

Do you provide high chairs?

The hotels have high chairs on request.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

Individual bookings must be cancelled 24 hour prior to your day of arrival or you may incur charges.

What do I do if I have a special request?

Please contact us, we are here to help and have tremendous resources available to be able to accommodate the large majority of requests.

How can I book an event?

Food & Dining

What options for dining are there in the Hotel?

The Red Lion Whittlesford Bridge has one the best reputations in Cambridgeshire for food and beverage offerings. We have an extensive food and beverage menu. The type of food on offer is traditional home cooked food made from fresh local ingredients with all food created and prepared by the kitchen brigade. You have our assurances, no ‘boil in the bag’ food is served we pride ourselves on the fresh food we offer.

Do I need to book for dinner?

The Red Lion becomes very busy especially at peak times so booking a table is advisable.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements?

The Red Lion kitchen brigade is very knowledgeable and will be able to help you with your dietary requirements. To help the kitchen prepare your requirement, we advise contacting the hotel directly at least 24 hours in advance.

Is a special menu available for children?

There is a children menu available but the main menu if also half price for children.

Do you have 24 hour room service?

The hotel does not offer 24 hour room service.


Business Travel

Can I connect my laptop in the room?

Yes and internet access is free of charge.

Do you offer special corporate rates to companies?
